From Our Groves

Our garden hosts three different varieties of olive trees, ranging in age from 35 to 1500 years old. These varieties include Memecik, Domat, and Gemlik. We harvest these olives early using traditional methods, and then cold-press them after passing through paper filters. The extracted oil is stored in steel tanks in an oxygen-free environment.

Memecik Olive: Resilient to various natural conditions, drought, and cold, the Memecik olive is distinguished by its asymmetrical oval shape and nipple at the end. Its pit is pointed and of medium size, containing 28.6% oil. The oil is dark greenish-yellow in color with a strong fruity aroma. Its high levels of antioxidants may cause a slight burning sensation in the throat. Memecik olives have a mild bitterness that doesn’t tire the palate, and they are rich in vitamin E and phenols. Described as a miracle for human health due to its four times higher polyphenol content compared to other olive varieties.

The fruits of our Memecik trees in our garden were harvested early in October while still green and cold-pressed to produce our Premium Memecik Olive Oil. Our olive oil has been awarded a geographical indication and registered as a protected designation of origin by the EU.

Gemlik Olive: The fruits and seeds are of medium size, containing 29.9% oil. They are medium-sized, round to cylindrical in shape. Our Gemlik trees, which we start harvesting in November and continue until they are fully ripe, produce olives with low acidity and a unique aroma. Our “Classica” series, made from Gemlik olives, will become a staple in your meals and salads.

What is Polyphenol?

Polyphenols are compounds commonly found in plants and possess antioxidant properties believed to be beneficial for human health. These compounds are often responsible for the coloration of plants, such as the autumnal hues of leaves. Some key characteristics of polyphenols include:

– Their strong antioxidant properties help to remove free radicals from the body, activating the immune system and aiding in increasing the body’s resistance against diseases.
– They support the healthy functioning of the digestive system by helping to maintain intestinal flora.
– They assist in regulating blood pressure.
– They help regulate blood sugar levels, reducing the risk of developing diabetes and obesity.

Extra virgin olive oil is the most significant source of polyphenols. The polyphenol content is higher in olive oil produced from early-harvested olives using the cold-pressing method.
